The Amstel Choro Club was conceived with the intention of promoting Choro music in the Netherlands and the surroundings.

​Choro is a Brazilian tradition that started duding the 19th century that fused European traditional & concert music (often described as 'Classical music') with African music.

​

If such a fusion reminds you of Jazz then you are totally correct. The only thing is that Choro was born decades before Jazz appeared, and although they both seem to have very similar origins and they both offer a perfect balance between skilled structure and spontaneity, they sound completely different.

Choro is indeed a genre of sophistication and - often - virtuosity, but it still has a core of coziness that regularly captivates hearts of music lovers.
